In 2010, White Wolf/ CCP announced that the forthcoming World of Darkness Online MMORPG would be based primarily on Vampire: The Masquerade. The original Vampire: The Masquerade rulebook was published in 1991, and the last Vampire: The Masquerade games and novels were published in 2004.
Vampire was the first game to be set in the old World of Darkness, and was the first new game to be published under the White Wolf banner. In Vampire, players take on the role of the Kindred: vampires. Vampire: The Masquerade is a storytelling game of personal horror.
